A dedicated group of volunteers at Abkhazi Garden have created the Friends of Abkhazi Garden Society. It is a not-for-profit organization, without charitable status, committed to the restoration and development of the garden. Their sole focus is to continue caring for and maintaining the garden, in partnership with TLC.

Hundreds of hours a year have been spent caring for the garden to ensure that this wonderful space remains one of the most important garden attractions in the Capital Region.

Volunteers work as gardeners, as greeters at the gate, as docents guiding visitors through the garden and giving tours, and also to work on special projects to support garden operations.

The volunteers are calling for reinforcements this Monday, May 26, from 9 a.m. to noon. With tourist season upon us the garden needs another tidy up as the weeds are growing at an incredible rate and the rhodos and azaleas need their spent blooms removed. So even if you can’t get down on the ground it would be a great help if you could pick off the spent blooms. To vlounteer on Monday email Bryce at brycefradley@hotmail.com.
